The Micro SD format was originally created by SanDisk. It was originally called T-Flash and thenTransFlash before being re-named Micro SD when adopted by the SD Card Association. Micro-SD cards come in capacities of 512MB, 1GB & 2GB. The format is currently supported primarily by mobile phone manufacturers, including Kyocera, Motorola and Samsung.MicroSD cards can be used in secure digital (SD) compatible devices via the included adapter. The exceptionally small size of MicroSD / TransFlash cards (11mm x 15mm x1mm) allows mobile phone manufacturers to incorporate significant amounts of removable storage capacity into their smaller handsets without changing the physical size of the phone.TransFlash uses advanced packaging technology and SanDisk's latest NAND MLC flash memory and controller technologies.
